Everything you need to know about joining Servy as a Lawn & Garden provider.
Servy connects Auckland homeowners with reliable lawn and garden professionals for mowing, edging, weeding, hedge trimming, and general garden tidying. If you already have the gear and love working outdoors, Servy gives you a platform to build a consistent local client base without spending money on advertising. Here's what lawn and garden providers most commonly ask us.
How to grow your lawn & garden business
Practical advice from Servy — because your success is our success.
🗓️
Sell fortnightly mowing subscriptions
Recurring bookings mean predictable income. When you finish a job, let customers know you're available to maintain their lawn regularly — most will say yes if the first job was good.
🍂
Upsell seasonal services
Spring clean-ups, autumn leaf removal, pre-summer edge-and-tidy packages. Customers who book once are warm leads for seasonal add-ons — they already trust you.
🚛
Green waste removal is a premium service
If you have a trailer and can take clippings away, say so clearly on your profile. Many customers will pay more for the convenience. It's a simple differentiator.
🛣️
Cluster your jobs by suburb
Less driving between jobs means more jobs per day and lower fuel costs. When you're available, accept jobs in the same area to build a local route.
🔧
Keep your equipment in top condition
A mower that breaks down mid-job costs you a rating. Customers judge professionalism by how you arrive — sharp blades, clean gear, and the right tools for the job signal that you take it seriously.
Frequently Asked Questions
Servy is a two-sided marketplace connecting customers in Auckland with trusted local home service providers. Once you're onboarded and verified, customers can discover your profile and book you directly through the Servy app. You receive the job details, confirm your availability, complete the work, and get paid — all through the platform.
Nothing. Joining Servy as a provider is completely free. There are no sign-up fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no hidden costs. You only earn — you never pay to be on the platform.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe Connect. Once a job is marked complete and any brief dispute window has passed, funds are transferred to your nominated bank account. Payouts are typically processed within 2–5 business days of job completion.
Servy takes a 5% platform fee from each customer payment. You keep the remaining 95% of every booking, plus 100% of any tips the customer chooses to leave. That's it — no other deductions.
Yes, completely. You control your calendar. You set which days and hours you're available, and you can update this any time through the provider app. You're never forced to accept a job — if a booking request doesn't suit you, you can decline it.
When a customer books a service in your area during your available hours, you'll receive a notification. You can review the job details — location, scope, and price — before accepting. Jobs are matched based on your location, service type, and availability. The more responsive and highly rated you are, the more prominently your profile is shown to customers.
If a customer cancels with more than 24 hours' notice, no cancellation fee applies. If they cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled job — or are unavailable when you arrive — a cancellation fee equal to one hour of your rate is charged to the customer, and a portion of this is passed on to you to compensate for your time.
We encourage customers and providers to resolve issues directly first. If that doesn't work, our support team will review the situation, look at any job photos and communications, and mediate a fair outcome. Maintaining high ratings is important — consistently low-rated providers may be removed from the platform.
Yes. Before your first job goes live on Servy, you'll need to hold your own New Zealand public liability insurance policy. We require this to protect both you and the customer. You can apply and complete the onboarding process while you arrange your cover — just have it in place before you start accepting jobs. We'll guide you through what's needed.
Auckland-wide, today. Other major New Zealand cities come next, based on where the demand is. If you're based in Auckland, you're in the right place — apply now and you can be taking jobs as soon as you're approved and insured.
Yes — providers are expected to arrive with all equipment needed to complete the job, including a mower, edger, line trimmer, blower, and any other tools required. Customers are not expected to supply equipment. Your profile can highlight the specific services you offer based on what you own.
Pricing on Servy is fixed and transparent — customers see the price upfront before booking. Jobs are priced based on property size (which the customer provides) and the services selected (e.g., mow only vs. mow + edge + weed). Servy sets the pricing structure; you don't need to quote individually. This removes the back-and-forth and gets you booked faster.
Safety comes first. If weather conditions make a job genuinely dangerous or would produce a poor result (e.g., mowing waterlogged lawns), you can contact the customer through the app to discuss rescheduling. Servy's support team is available to help facilitate this without it counting against your reliability rating.
Servy's lawn and garden category covers mowing, edging, weeding, hedge trimming, and general tidying. We don't currently offer tree removal, structural landscaping, irrigation installation, or chemical spraying. If a customer requests something outside the scope of your booking, you're not obligated to do it — contact support if you're unsure.
Green waste disposal is part of the service. If you have a trailer and take waste away, make sure your profile reflects this as it makes your listing more attractive. If you don't, you can use the customer's green waste bin for smaller jobs. For large volumes, disposal can be noted in the job scope — customers appreciate transparency about this upfront.
