How to grow your moving help business
Practical advice from Servy — because your success is our success.
🏢
Keep end-of-month availability open
Move-in and move-out dates cluster around the end and start of each month. These are the highest-demand windows — make sure your calendar is fully open during these periods.
📞
Confirm details the night before
Message the customer to confirm the item list, access details, and any fragile pieces. Surprises on moving day cost time and ratings. A 2-minute message prevents most issues.
🚐
A van dramatically increases your earnings
Van-with-driver jobs are higher value than labour-only. Even a small van opens up significantly more bookings and unlocks the most lucrative jobs on the platform.
🛡️
Photograph items before you start
Take photos of fragile or valuable items before the move begins. It protects you from disputes and signals professionalism — customers notice and rate it.
🌟
Earn your Top-Pro badge
Moving jobs are high-value bookings. A Top-Pro badge on a moving profile has an outsized effect on conversion — customers about to trust you with their belongings want the most credentialed option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Servy is a two-sided marketplace connecting customers in Auckland with trusted local home service providers. Once you're onboarded and verified, customers can discover your profile and book you directly through the Servy app. You receive the job details, confirm your availability, complete the work, and get paid — all through the platform.
Nothing. Joining Servy as a provider is completely free. There are no sign-up fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no hidden costs. You only earn — you never pay to be on the platform.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe Connect. Once a job is marked complete and any brief dispute window has passed, funds are transferred to your nominated bank account. Payouts are typically processed within 2–5 business days of job completion.
Servy takes a 5% platform fee from each customer payment. You keep the remaining 95% of every booking, plus 100% of any tips the customer chooses to leave. That's it — no other deductions.
Yes, completely. You control your calendar. You set which days and hours you're available, and you can update this any time through the provider app. You're never forced to accept a job — if a booking request doesn't suit you, you can decline it.
When a customer books a service in your area during your available hours, you'll receive a notification. You can review the job details — location, scope, and price — before accepting. Jobs are matched based on your location, service type, and availability. The more responsive and highly rated you are, the more prominently your profile is shown to customers.
If a customer cancels with more than 24 hours' notice, no cancellation fee applies. If they cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled job — or are unavailable when you arrive — a cancellation fee equal to one hour of your rate is charged to the customer, and a portion of this is passed on to you to compensate for your time.
We encourage customers and providers to resolve issues directly first. If that doesn't work, our support team will review the situation, look at any job photos and communications, and mediate a fair outcome. Maintaining high ratings is important — consistently low-rated providers may be removed from the platform.
Yes. Before your first job goes live on Servy, you'll need to hold your own New Zealand public liability insurance policy. We require this to protect both you and the customer. You can apply and complete the onboarding process while you arrange your cover — just have it in place before you start accepting jobs. We'll guide you through what's needed.
Auckland-wide, today. Other major New Zealand cities come next, based on where the demand is. If you're based in Auckland, you're in the right place — apply now and you can be taking jobs as soon as you're approved and insured.
Not necessarily. Servy offers two types of moving help: labour-only (loading and unloading a customer-arranged vehicle) and van-with-driver (you provide the vehicle). You can register for one or both depending on what you have. If you own a van or truck, your profile will be shown for the higher-value van-with-driver bookings as well as labour-only jobs.
This is why public liability insurance is required before your first job. If a genuine accident occurs, your insurance is the first line of cover. Servy also has a dispute resolution process — both parties can submit photos and accounts of what happened, and our team reviews it fairly. Encourage customers to photograph valuable items before the move starts as a good practice.
Customers describe the items they need moved when booking, including any fragile or heavy pieces. You can review this detail before accepting. If a job involves something you're not equipped to handle safely (e.g., a large piano, specialist art), you're not obligated to accept it. Being upfront in your profile about what you can and can't move will reduce mismatches.
Moving jobs vary widely. A small flat clear-out might take 2–3 hours, while a full house move could take a full day. The job details — including estimated duration and item count — are shown before you accept. Longer jobs are generally priced higher, and any time that runs over the estimated duration can be flagged through the app.
For standard vans and light trucks (under 6,000 kg GVM), a standard New Zealand Class 1 car licence is sufficient. If you operate a heavier vehicle, you'll need the appropriate heavy vehicle licence as required by New Zealand law. You'll need to confirm your licence class during onboarding. Do not accept driving jobs with a vehicle category your licence doesn't cover.
