Can I book movers for just one item?

Yes. A single couch, fridge or bed is a normal booking. List the item and both addresses and you'll see the price before you confirm.

Do I need to be at the pickup?

Someone has to be at each end to hand over and receive the item. If that's the seller at the pickup, put their name and number in the booking notes.

Can you carry it inside and upstairs?

Yes. Note the stairs or lift at both ends when booking, so the job goes to someone set up for it.

What if the item is damaged in transit?

Every Servy provider holds public liability insurance, and Servy's dispute process reviews photos from both sides. Photograph the item at pickup, especially if it's second-hand.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. Cancelling with more than 24 hours' notice costs nothing. Inside 24 hours, or if you're not there when the provider arrives, a cancellation fee equal to one hour of the provider's rate applies.

What's included

Trade Me & Marketplace pickups

Collected from the seller's address and delivered to yours, for anything bought on Trade Me, Facebook Marketplace or elsewhere.

Furniture & appliances

Couches, beds, dining tables, wardrobes, fridges and washing machines: the bulky pieces that don't fit in a car.

Store collections

Large items from a store that charges extra for delivery or won't deliver for days, picked up when it suits you.

Pianos, pool tables and specialist items aren't part of this service. Providers see the item and both addresses before accepting, and can decline anything they can't move safely.

Why not just use a courier?

Trade Me's Book a Courier is a parcel service: the seller packs the item, writes the tracking number on it and leaves it out for collection. That suits a pair of boots, not a three-seater. Anything that can't be boxed and left on a doorstep needs a van and someone to carry it.

Before you book the pickup

Confirm the pickup address and a time with the seller, and ask whether there are stairs or a lift at their end. Pay the seller before pickup day, so the driver isn't stuck waiting on a transfer to clear.

Get the measurements from the listing or the seller and add them to the booking, along with the floor it's going to at your end. It's the difference between one person with a van and two people with a trolley.
