How to get the quote
In the Servy app, request a quote for moving help. Give the job a clear title, describe what's moving (the number of rooms, the big items, any stairs), and add the pickup address and where it's going. A mover sends back a quote, which appears in your quotes list with its own number and dates.
Take a screenshot of the quote, or show it on your phone at your appointment. Check with your case manager first that this is the form of quote they'll accept, and ask how the grant will be paid, because Servy takes payment in the app when you accept a quote.
What the Moving Costs Grant covers
Work and Income's Moving Costs Grant is up to $1,500, no more than twice in 12 months, and you pay it back. It covers van, truck or trailer hire and petrol, and covers a moving company if you can't help with the move yourself, for example because of age, illness or disability. If that applies to you, say so when you apply.
If you're leaving public housing for a private rental, the separate Transition to Alternative Housing Grant is $3,000 and doesn't have to be repaid, but you have to apply before you find the new place. Our guide below has the full rules and income limits.
